What I like about Mac OS X Lion

There are few not-so-wow things about this pre-release version. But I prefer talking about the things I absolutely like.

1. Instant on
Oh how happy I am! Just imagine pushing one button and then just work or play.

2. Constant saving applications
Applications will resume in the same state as when they have been closed.
Imagine this functionality on a desktop! A dream come true.

Imagine that: we're coming closer to a fool-proof computer system.

The flashy stuff of Mac OS X Lion is here.

Was today a great day?

Yes! Absolutely.

The good and very good parts at TEDx Bucharest 2010

  • Inspiring talks from Oana Pellea, Andrei Rosu, Arnoud Raskin, Adrian Stoica, Eric Weiner, Magnus Scheving, Nik Halik and Roland Hermann
  • Drumcafe.ro
  • Meeting old friends and colleagues: Bogdana, Ioana, Mihai Dragan, Mihai from Letsdoitromania.ro, Alex from balaur.ro, Dragos from metropotam
  • Seeing Oana Pelea in action
  • Shaking hands with the guy who coined one of the most largely applicable law of physics
  • Being able to feel that I had a day just for me and my ideas

Now, let me get to a few questions I wrote down :)

When will I do something worth an invitation to TED?

Why do people include movies in powerpoint slide-shows?
Movies don't play well in PowerPoint. Period.

Is the past a sunk cost?
Well, not in my opinion. I think the past is actually a perspective cost.

Sunk costs are sums of money, or other type of resources, one has spent in the past and cannot get back easily. Sunk costs are when you build a factory for sugar in 2009 and in 2010 the EU banishes sugar alltogher. That's a really sunk cost :)

The past as a concept is more vividly described as a bank loan. Decision you make today are generating inflows and outflows of money in the future. That's the past. Accordingly, it's a perspective cost.

Yes, there were a few glitches, but
TEDxBucharest 2010 proved to be a great day!

Weird News

Hi there.

The Romanian ROM shifts towards unchartered, bold and - apparently - weird marketing messages. New packaging (already spotted in stores), TV spot and billboards hint that ROM is now teaching Romanians a new doctrine: Shame.

Robbie Williams is celebrating 20 years in music. :) Now, this means that:
a.) He's a time-tested brand
b.) I'm getting old
