"Start Something" before the Tiger gets here
"Start something" is Microsoft's new campaign which aims to promote XP to home users. I guess the marketing guys at Microsoft realised that Apple is unleashing the Tiger soon (also think of macMini) and that consumers must hear something new from XP as well.
The "start something" campaign has a clean segmentation (click on the first link in this post) but Apple's approach - "Meet the world’s most advanced operating system. Again." combined with Apple hallmarks such as design and innovation is in my opinion the better communication strategy.
I guess Microsoft is now willing to improve its consumer marketing strategy since it's confronted with aggressive enemies such as Linux, Mozilla and Apple.
By the way: "Start Something" is also a song performed by the Lost Prophets. Both lyrics and name of the band are appropriate to Microsoft's situation. :)

"It's ok to use your ability
You must know, it's hard to choose
Time will tell, it's hard that the way you feel
means you always seem to lose"
